Telos
Systems announced today the formation of a new subsidiary: Axia. This new
company will focus on providing professional networked audio products for
broadcast and other professional audio applications. Some of the initial
products include digital audio routing switchers, mixing engines, and
(console) control surfaces for broadcast air and production, all networked
using Livewire™ technology over standard Ethernet.
All
Axia products are inherently modular and scalable; clients can connect a
few devices or a few hundred. Installation, using Cat-6 cable and RJ-45
connections, is fast and easy. And because the Axia network is based on
standard switched-Ethernet technology, costs are dramatically lower than
any other digital approach.
"Axia
products are the ideal solution for modern, computer-centric
studios," says Michael Dosch, President of Axia. "With Axia
products in the studio, computers can finally connect with the audio
network in a useful manner. Audio, logic, routine IP traffic, and even PAD
data for digital radio and RBDS are all conveyed over the same net. This
simple approach dramatically reduces infrastructure costs."
"We
are all quite enthusiastic about Axia, and so are our clients," Dosch
continues. "Some of the Axia products were previewed by clients at
last year's NAB convention, and the response was overwhelmingly positive.
Several of those previewed products even won awards from two major
industry publications… not bad for a brand-new company!"
"It's
not every day a new company is formed within our industry," commented
Telos founder and CEO Steve Church. "Client response to the core Axia
technology has been so positive; we decided that this could not just be
another Telos product line. We needed the concentration of energy that
only a dedicated business could provide. With Mike in charge, we have an
experienced hand at the wheel - someone who well knows mixing consoles and
studio systems from his days as the console designer and general manager
at PR&E. Livewire gives us an excellent fundamental technology and
we've been devoted to getting it right, but now we are ready to move on to
the next stage: a focus on delivering to clients advanced, but practical,
solutions."
