New Low-cost Call Control Option

For Telos TWO x 12 Talkshow Options

 Telos Systems is now shipping the new Telos Call Controller, adding a compact, flexible, and low-cost option for call screening and on-air control to the popular Telos TWOx12, the intelligent 12-line phone system designed specifically for fast-paced talkshow production.

 “The Call Controller is really easy to use,” says Telos Applications Engineer Rolf Taylor. “Like our classic Desktop Director, the Call Controller gives users complete control over their talk shows, but in a streamlined layout that’s very easy to learn — just what clients told us they wanted. And the lower cost of the Call Controller puts a TWOx12 system within the reach of customers who previously felt they had to settle for lesser systems.”

 The Call Controller works with any standard analog telephone, allowing the user unequaled flexibility in their choice of screener phones. “You can choose almost any phoneset —a phone with a headset, for instance, or even a wireless phone,” comments Taylor. “In fact, for basic on-air line control, you don’t even need the phone!”

The new Call Controller features the same large control buttons and high-quality industrial switches found on the high-end Desktop Director, as well as exclusive Telos Status Symbols™, animated icons displayed next to each incoming phone line that give hosts and screeners visual cues about line, caller and hybrid status. According to Taylor, “Clients tell us the Status Symbols are pretty cool because you can see what’s going on much faster than with old-fashioned blinking LEDs. Talent says they love being able to concentrate on the callers instead of on running the equipment — it helps eliminate errors on the air.”

 Users can “mix and match” Call Controllers with Desktop Directors to customize control of their TWOx12. The Call Controller also supports the TWOx12’s new Dual Studio Mode, which was introduced recently with a free software upgrade. Using Dual Studio mode, exclusive control of one of TWOx12’s two hybrids is assigned to each studio. On-air lines can now be shared between two separate studios, allowing use of a single TWOx12 for simultaneous production of live and pre-recorded talk segments.

 TWOx12 works with analog or digital telephone circuits to deliver clean, clear talk segments and unparalleled control of the on-air environment. Remote talk show production can easily be accomplished via LAN or WAN using optional Assistant Producer 3.5 call screening software.
